Simon’s career in the financial services industry began in 1979; he started out as a trainee at Norwich Union, where he became a Broker Consultant by 1982. He was invited to join a firm of financial advisers in 1985 and was made a Director in 1987.
In 1991 Simon established Taylor McGill with his business partner Gerry, where he has been providing bespoke financial planning services for clients ever since. Simon’s specialist areas include pension and investment planning, which in turn lead to estate planning.
Simon’s main hobby is history: he loves antiques and historical buildings. He also enjoys gardening, watching motor racing and playing golf when time allows.

The important stuff
All regulated financial advisers must be authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and therefore appear on their register. You can find Simon’s entry here.
Furthermore, all advisers must have an up-to-date Statement of Professional Standing (SPS). This shows they are suitably qualified and have carried out the required amount of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). You should be wary of any advisers who refuse to provide copies of their SPS. You can click here to view Simon’s.
